Working in the film industry isn’t for the faint-hearted.
Working any day any hours anywhere, always improving your skills and keeping with new techniques and tools, that’s the basics that come with the job.
On top of this, there are all these activities and stress that come with being freelance: you have to learn how to find clients, how to run a business, how to avoid scam and trouble, how to manage the up and low of cash flow, as well as using social media, creating or maintaining a website, having the right mindset to stay sane and bloom in this industry.
These things are rarely if ever taught in film/sound/art/hair or makeup studies.
They are though so crucial to stay in the industry and have a good career.I have learned so much through trial and error, tears and trouble.
People outside the film and TV industry don’t really understand how you live and what your struggles are. Many courses will help you with your craft, or specific marketing skills but fail to help with the bigger picture or lack the insider knowledge of someone’s who is been there.
And with so many things to learn, it’s hard to know where to start, what to look for and what’s best for your budget.
